as the girls bring home school papers, they start to accumulate in a pile somewhere in my house. every few days, i go through and throw away most of the papers. i keep the ones with cute drawings, or funny kid-thoughts. the rest, i force myself to throw away. (i'd like to keep them all... but that is called hoarding)
i came across a paper that caught my eye. it had a story about a little girl named Carli. it's not a common spelling, so it was kind of neat to find her name among Lynzie's various worksheets with all the "culturally diverse" character names. of all the names in the world... this publisher chose "Carli". that name. that spelling.
so, i read the worksheet. it had a story about the narrator and a little girl (Carli) and at the bottom, Lynzie was supposed to do a venn diagram. (you know- venn diagram- the circles that overlap and show you the differences and similarities?)
the story was about the narrator and Carli making books about their life stories. the narrator hoped to add more pages to her book, but "Carli wants to keep her book just the way it is".
it reminds me of my Carli and my belief that she lived every bit of life she was meant to live.
Lynzie's venn diagram showed: "narrator's book- more pages. Carli's book- ends. no more pages."
interesting thing to find among the clutter of school papers.
